Referral Guidelines:
Appropriate referrals for Bridge of Hope BuxMont
are single-parent families who are presently homeless or at-risk of becoming
homeless. Bridge of Hope defines homelessness based on the definition provided
by the Coalition on Homelessness in Pennsylvania:
Homelessness is a
condition in which individuals and families have no residence, owned or leased,
in which they can live safely and legally both night and day and in which they
can meet their basic needs with privacy and dignity.

Potential participants must show promise of
gaining financial self-sufficiency through temporary rental assistance,
service planning, and by attaining and maintaining full-time employment. As
necessary, GED classes and/or job training is encouraged.

Potential participants should have one to
three children, of which no more than two are pre-school age. Adult children
over 18 years of age will not be considered as part of the family unit.

Potential participants must be 20 years or
older to be considered for the program.

Potential participants who are pregnant are
encouraged to wait to apply to the program until their last trimester of
pregnancy.

Potential participants must have achieved at
least 12 months sobriety from alcohol and chemical addictions prior to
applying to the program, unless referred directly from an in-house
rehabilitation program, in which six months sobriety is sufficient.

Potential participants must be ready and
willing to establish meaningful and honest relationships with mentors.

Potential participants must demonstrate a
desire to change life patterns and choices that have contributed to their
homelessness.

Potential participants must show promise of
sufficient emotional well-being to maintain a stable environment for their
family.
