Program Description

Bridge of Hope BuxMont strives to break the cycle of homelessness by offering at-risk and homeless single-parent families the opportunity to secure permanent housing, become financially self-sufficient and establish family stability.

Mentoring Group:
Program participants are "matched" with a mentoring group of ten to twelve people from a local congregation who serve as a support network. Their primary responsibilities are to offer practical support and encouragement.

Housing:
Fair market value housing is located by the participating family and BuxMont provides rental assistance on a decreasing basis over a 12-24 month period. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, annual housing costs are deemed affordable if they do not exceed 30% of the families’ annual income. Rental assistance is provided in accordance with this percentage and is based upon each participating family’s: income, expenses and education/training expenses.

Service Planning:
Additionally, Bridge of Hope BuxMont coordinates service planning.  An individualized service agreement is guided by the participant developing goals targeting risk predictors of homelessness including: job retention, education/training, health insurance, income, money management, childcare, transportation, permanent housing, life-changing friendships, accessing services, holistic living (physical health and wellness, emotinoal wellness, spiritual wellness, and parenting).  Bridge of Hope BuxMont provides the participant with necessary counseling, financial planning assistance and case management coordination services in order to fulfill individual goals.

Bridge of Hope BuxMont works with a participating family for a period of 12 to 24 months.  After completion of the program, participating families should maintain financial self-sufficiency, family stability and a network of natural supports.
